Landlords can claim First-Time Central Heating Grants if their tenant receives qualifying benefits.
The ECO Scheme offers qualifying properties home efficiency improvements. This includes boiler funding, smart heating controls, underfloor insulation. The majority of home improvements are only available to the homeowners. However, if you are a landlord and your tenant is in receipt of qualifying benefits and your property does not have and never have had a boiler or radiators you might be eligible for the First-time central heating grant. The property or the street must be connected to gas mains to qualify for the funding.
What is the first-time central heating?
The first time central heating is a system that heats the space and water through the boiler, connected to radiators.
Your home must have either no heating at all or heated in the following ways:
Electric room heaters, fan room heaters, or inefficient electric storage heaters.
Gas room heaters, including mains gas room heaters.
Your tenant must receive qualifying benefits to qualify for the First-Time Central Heating funding
Full list of qualifying benefits can be found here.
Property needs to be well insulated to qualify for the First-time central heating funding.
If you qualify for the funding and your property is not insulated to meet the scheme's requirements, we will arrange for the work to be carried out before the first time central heating installation.
