Superquilt Insulation
The affordable and safer alternative to spray foam loft insulation
If you’re looking for economical ways to insulate your property but don’t qualify for an ECO grant, then having Superquilt insulation installed expertly in your loft could be the answer to keeping you home warmer and cutting energy costs.
Made from multifoil, Superquilt Insulation boasts that it is the highest EN certified insulation of its kind, and while it can be used in conservatories, floors and walls, the team of expert insulation fitters at Invictus Energy Group prefer to Superquilt in lofts, lining the space between the rafters to help maximise warm space in the attic.
What is Superquilt Insulation?
Superquilt insulation is a modern and highly developed, robust and effective insulation material. Versatile, it can be fitted in a number of different loft types by an experienced insulation fitter, and has a number of benefits:
• R-Value up to 3.0 m²K/W, (This is equivalent to around 130mm of Mineral Wool Insulation but takes up much less space)
• Heat loss reduced by up to 83%, allowing you to keep more of the heat you pay for.
• Reduced risk of condensation issues when fitted properly by an experienced fitter
• Made from 80%+ recycled materials, making it kinder on the environment and resources.
• Unlike mineral wool and some other insulates, there is no risk to health from fibres, and PPE is not needed (although may be required when fitting due to other issues present in the loft space)
• Does not degrade overtime, providing long-lasting and robust insulation.
• Non absorbent material means it does not take on and hold moisture easily
• Lightweight and flexible, not adding much weight to the rafters and joists.
• Building Control Compliant and NHBC accepted.
• Made in the UK

The Alternative to Spray Foam Insulation
While the insulation teams at Invictus Energy Group happily fit loft, wall and floor insulation, we NEVER use spray foam.
As satisfying as those video adverts you see on Facebook are (yes, we know it looks cool when the foam expands), using spray foam insulation has been known to have some catastrophic effects on your homes value and structural integrity. We opt for Superquilt instead for the following reasons:
Spray Foam Loft Insulation Problems:
Most problems caused by spray foam loft insulation comes from poor application of the spray foam, often by untrained or unqualified cowboys.
If an insufficiently thick layer is installed then this may not create an airtight seal, allowing moisture to permeate the foam and cause damp/condensation issues.
Because the foam seals the wood it touches, moisture can get trapped in the wood, eventually causing rot.
Poor preparation of the spray chemicals can mean the foam pulls away from the cavity overtime, leaving the area exposed.
If it needs removing it can be extremely difficult and labour-intensive to remove.
Any one of these issues could lead the the insulation failing, or worse still could cause rot or damage to the rafters, compromising the roof structure which may lead to costly repairs.
For these reasons, some mortgage lenders may frown upon mortgage applications on houses that have had spray foam loft insulation applied, which may effect your ability to sell your house when the time comes.
