Can I get a boiler grant for a new boiler?

ECO scheme, a government boiler scheme, is a government energy efficiency scheme in Great Britain set to help reduce carbon emissions and reduce fuel poverty. The scheme was started in April 2013 and been amended since.

Currently, the ECO3 Scheme offers qualifying properties a grant to cover the cost of boiler replacement, underfloor insulation, and smart heating controls. Also, properties that have access to gas mains but don’t have and never have had a boiler or radiators in the property can qualify for the First-Time Central Heating Grant to get a brand new boiler and radiators installed in their properties.

Who qualifies for a boiler grant?

To qualify for a boiler grant to replace your boiler, you must be a homeowner or live with the homeowner. Sadly, tenants don’t qualify for the boiler replacement scheme. You or someone else in the property needs to receive one of the following benefits:

I don’t have a boiler on my property. Can I qualify for a boiler grant?

If you live in a property that does not have and never has had a boiler or radiators in the property, then you might be able to qualify for the First-Time Central Heating grant.

To qualify for this funding, you must receive benefits and have access to gas mains.

Is the boiler scheme free?

The boiler scheme is free, and you will not need to repay the grant. However, how much funding is available is based on the property type. In many cases, your boiler installation will be free.
