Child benefit payments to rise from April 2021

Child benefit payments have increased from April 6th in the rate of inflation. Child benefit is a monthly benefit if you are responsible for bringing a child under 16 or 20 if they are in the approved education or training program.

The benefit is paid every four weeks on a Monday or a Tuesday. The benefit has increased to £21.15 per week and £14 for every additional child. This is an increase of 10p and 5p respectively per week. This means the new monthly payments will be £84.60 for the first child and £56 for any additional children.

Could you qualify for a free boiler if you receive a child benefit under the ECO 3 boiler scheme?

The ECO 3 boiler scheme offers boiler replacement and underfloor insulation for qualifying properties. We often get asked if it is free. In many cases, you can get it for free, but sometimes a contribution is required.

The funding is allocated based on the property that you own. It looks at the size, type of the property, wall and floor type. Each property is given Lifetime Saving Score, and based on that, the funding is allocated.

How can you qualify for a boiler replacement if you receive child benefit?

To qualify for the ECO boiler funding, if you receive child benefit, you must have a household income below the income cap. The income cap is based on the number of children you claim the benefit for and if you have a single or a joint claim. You can find the income caps here

You also must be a homeowner, and your boiler must be at least six years or older.
