ECO 3 boiler funding available to qualifying households in receipt of child benefit

The ECO 3 boiler scheme allows qualifying properties to get their homes more energy efficient by installing measures such as boiler replacement, underfloor insulation and smart thermostat.

The ECO3 boiler funding is a government incentive to help low-income and vulnerable families to reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. Large energy suppliers with over 250,000 customers have a legal obligation under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) to install these measures to reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty.

I receive Child benefit. Can I qualify for boiler funding?

Child benefit is a qualifying benefit for the ECO3 boiler funding. However, child benefit is the only benefit that has an income cap. In order to qualify for the funding, your income must be on or below the income cap.

The income cap is based on two things the type of claim that you have and the number of children you are claiming the benefit for.

In order to qualify for the funding, you also have to meet the other eligibility criteria. You must be a homeowner and your boiler must be older than six years or you don’t have a boiler and radiators in your property.

Can I get a free boiler if I am in receipt of child benefit?

The amount of funding available is based on the property type that you own and not the benefits that you receive. In most cases there is no contribution is required. However, in some, you might need to contribute towards the work.
