Personal independence payment (PIP) can help you with some extra costs if you have a long term illness or disability. If you receive PIP, you might be eligible for additional support to help with your living costs.
If you are awarded PIP, you might also be able to claim extra money on top of your existing benefits, Council Tax reductions and travel discounts.

Council Tax Discounts
If you receive either the daily living or mobility component of PIP, you might be eligible to get a discount on your Council Tax Bill. You should contact your local council to see how much discount you could receive.
Travel Support
Blue badge
A blue badge holder travelling either as a passenger or driver can park for free in disabled parking bays and may be exempt from other parking restrictions. If you receive PIP visit a Government website here or contact your local council to see if you would be eligible for the scheme.
Vehicle Tax Exemption
If you get the standard PIP mobility rate, you might be eligible for a 50% discount on your vehicle tax fee. If you receive an enhanced PIP mobility rate, you qualify for a 100% discount on your vehicle tax. You can learn more about it and how to apply for the scheme here.
Disabled Person’s Railcard
Disabled Person’s Railcard offers up to a third off most rail fares across the UK. You will have to pay £20 for a one-year membership. You can find out more here.
ECO boiler grant
If you are a homeowner, receive PIP, and your boiler is older than six years, you might be eligible for the boiler grant and underfloor insulation grant for free or at the heavily subsidised cost.
